A plastic drywall anchor also called wall plug, screw anchor, a dowel in British and Amrican English separately ,which is a fiber or plastic (originally wood) dowel used to enable the attachment of a screw in material that is leachy or crumbly or that would otherwise not support the weight of the object attached with the screw. The plastic drywall anchor is a type of fastener that allows screws to be fixed into walls.
There are many kinds of wall plug, but the most common principle is to use a bevelled tube of soft material, such as plastic or nylon. This is inserted into a hole drilled before, then tightened a screw into the center. The screwing process wedges the plug firmly in place, the soft material conforming tightly to the wall. Then push the anchor to its full depth in the hole. At last, insert the screw through the item and screw it into the anchor firmly.
